Daniel
Hanson, Director Mr. Hanson began working with at-risk/special needs students in 1976 after graduating from Western Washington University with a Bachelor's degree in journalism. He became one of the founders of the state's first and largest dropout prevention/retrieval programs helping to pass legislation that is still in place today. After completing requirements for a second Bachelor's degree, Mr. Hanson completed his fifth-year teaching certification and took graduate courses in educational psychology at the University of Washington. He is former chairman of the Washington Association of Education Centers. Being in a rock band will never replace his day job. |

Lori Hanson, Assistant Director A Paladin teacher since the spring of 2003, Mrs. Hanson has a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and a Washington State Teaching Certificate with endorsements in social studies and history. Mrs. Hanson has been working with children with varying levels of special needs for nine years. Mrs. Hanson has specialized in helping students catch up on credits and stay in school by improving their academic and social skills and has managed her own stand-alone programs. |

Christina Eversole, Master Teacher Miss Eversole, PLC teacher for more than four years, completed her Master’s-In-Teaching from City University. Certified to teach all subjects K-8, Miss Eversole also attended Hood College in Maryland where she majored in law and society. Miss Eversole has experience as a manager of residential care facilities. Miss Eversole has a special education endorsement program from Seattle University and and is a winner of Families for Effective Autism Treatment's Teacher of the Year Award.

Derek Curtner, Certified Teacher/Behavior Specialist Derek Curtner joined our staff in February 2007.Mr. Curtner has his Bachelor’s Degree in Human and Community Services with a major in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Nevada and obtained his teaching certificate from Sierra Nevada College in 1999.He has recently been a substitute in the Edmonds School District and has taught at Chrysalis School. He has also worked as an ESL teacher for youth and adults. We are all very pleased to have Mr. Curtner join us and appreciate his calm, positive style of classroom management. |

Kim Curtner,
Masters of Social Work, Instructor Ms Curtner, who joined our staff in 2007, brings more than 17 years’ experience providing counseling and therapeutic support, comprehensive case management, and group therapy to individuals and families ineducational, mental health, and medicalsettings. She has also been responsible for crisis intervention. Ms Curtner has a Bachelor’s Degree in social work and child development from Whittier College, and her Master’s Degree in social work from The University of Reading in England. As an undergraduate, Ms Curtner took education courses and student taught at the secondary level. |

Laila Solyst,
Master's In Teaching After a 20-year career in the banking industry, Laila Solyst felt she wasn't getting enough contact with people. She went back to school to pursue a career in education to share her joy of learning, using numbers, and doing research. She recently earned her Master's Degree in teaching from City University. Through substitute teaching, Ms Solyst discovered how much she enjoyed working with diverse populations of highly capable and challenged students. |
